Born in Dublin to an English family, he wrote satires like "The Battle of Books" and "A Tale of a Tub". Swift was also involved in politics, writing pamphlets in defense of the Whigs and criticizing England's colonial policy in Ireland. His masterpiece "Gulliver's Travels" made a great impact. Despite facing personal tragedies and health issues, Swift continued to contribute to literature until his death.
