Uzbekistan Republic is situated between the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers. It is known for its flat-lands, mountains, and deserts. The territory covers 447,4 thousand square kilometers and borders on Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Tajikistan, Turkmenia, and Afghanistan. The climate is continental, suitable for cotton growing. Uzbekistan is a major producer of cotton, silk, coal, oil, natural gas, and various metals. The population is around 20 million, consisting of about 120 nations and nationalities, with Uzbeks making up over 70%.
