Pepsin is an endopeptidase enzyme that hydrolyzes peptide bonds in proteins. It is found in humans, mammals, birds, and most fish species. Discovered in 1836 by Theodor Schwann, pepsin has a molecular weight of approximately 34,500 and plays a crucial role in protein digestion
