Relative clauses are subordinate clauses that modify a noun or noun phrase, introduced by relative pronouns or adverbs. They function to identify or describe people, things, times or places. Two types exist: restrictive (defining) and nonrestrictive (non-defining). Common markers include pronouns (who, whom, whose, which, that).
